New brews add to old favourites

Check out the article on Townsends Brewery that will be on tap at the Moutere Inn, on the itinerary for Friday.

In the case of Townshend’s Brewery in the Upper Moutere, Martin Townshend is the Pommy who makes excellent real ales. The brewery is six years old, and he started out making really high quality English beers as close to style as possible.

Martin himself often says, “It might be boring, but I still prefer to drink a really good sessionable English ale.”

Cook Strait Ferry

If you are planning on crossing the Cook Strait by ferry to come to the Tour please check your bookings. There has been a breakdown in one of the KiwiRail Interislander ferry (a propeller dropped off!).  This may mean you re-booking on the Bluebridge Ferry making other arrangements (flying) to cross the strait. Please keep in contact with us if this is going to cause you any problems,

The Theme

The Theme for the Thursday night ceilidh will be ‘Maritime Madness’ to fit in with the nautical nature of the name of Nelson, Abel Tasman, Cook, and the  and our role as the largest fishing port in Australasia. We’re hoping to find the best dressed Lord Nelson inviting the odd kiss from Mr Hardy or perhaps Tangaroa or even Neptune or the Gorgons.  There may be a chance to bump into a well dressed cruise liner passenger or a salty old fisherman, the list goes on and on. Lots of good op shops and $2 type shops in town.

Don’t forget the Tour Dances will be Jockey to the Fair (Brackley), and the border dance from the Witchmen ‘Just as the Tides was Aflow’n’
